Let’s get back to it then, eh?

Long time¬† no post. What can I say, the world’s a busy place, and you sometimes get caught up in it’s whirlwinds.

Starting with this update, I’m going to try and make this a once-a-day-download hub, so anyone who wants to know what I’ve been kicking around can enjoy some good tunes.

Today’s lucky number is a band called Toe. I was introduced to them by a friend of a now defunct mutual-friend, and he recommended me their album, The Book About My Idle Plot on a Vague Anxiety. They’re a band from Japan, infusing elements of post-hardcore, post-rock, and mathcore (this is really only limited to drummer, Kashikura Takashi, who does an amazing job on every track). The album itself is short; it clocks out 38 minutes, 11 tracks, but by itself it’s a non-stop portrait of instrumentals which are ever-changing.

Antarctic – EP

Based out of Jacksonville, Florida, I had the pleasure of seeing these guys perform at the local all-ages venue some time ago. Having mentioned the group to the Flood Collective (Elias makes up some great names.) to somewhat favorable compliments, I figured I’d get more people into ’em. Their sound could be described as experimental and prog, but in the end, it doesn’t matter because the songs in their 4-track S/T EP are golden. A standout track, “Paseo De Salamandria”,¬† begins with a sweeping hypnotic rythm and from there on the rest is a blur, not noticing when one track ends and the other starts. Look for their tour dates here and look for their full-length to be released Fall of this year on Hello Sir Records.

“One cannot have everything the way he would like it. A man has no business to be depressed by a disappointment, anyway; he ought to make up his mind to get even.” – Mark Twain

This will be a collection of entries focussing on the mediums of the modern 21st century.

They Include:

  • Photos
  • Film
  • Books
  • Music
  • Free-form Thinking

These entries may come in a timely manner, but no sane person lives as an entity of a personified web around the world, so they may not come at all. I will be including reviews of films, books, and music along with accompanying downloads for the last. So tell your friends, tell your family, and tell your dog.

Welcome to the Herd.
